    The mission of of the Mid Ohio Valley Health Department is to do everything in our power to protect the health of the communities in Calhoun, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Wirt, and Wood counties. Our services are broken into four broad areas: Clinical; Women, Infants, and Children; Environmental; and Threat Preparedness.

  • Mid-Ohio Valley Hoopla!

    Mid-Ohio Valley Hoopla! is a project created to introduce hoopdance/hooping to the region. Hooping is a creative and fun exercise which combines dance elements with manipulation of a hula-hoop. We currently conduct classes and one-time workshops, and also participate in fairs/festivals/expos to introduce hooping to the community.

  • Middle Island Creek - Sugar Creek

    A great place to launch for a boat trip in your canoe/kayak.

  • Miletree Lakes

    These lakes were built in 1929 and together make up 10 surface acres. The lower Miletree Lake has a maximum depth of 40 feet and an average depth of 20 feet. The upper Miletree Lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet and an average depth of 7 feet. Trails surrounding both lakes provide bank fishing access.

  • Mineral Wells Elementary School Walking Path

    The school offers a paved path for the community's use. 1 lap = 1/5th of a mile (5 laps=1 mile). This path does have lighting and is fenced in.

  • Mingo Bottom Golf Club

    Mingo Bottom Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole Golf Club located only 1 mile from Elizabeth on the Little Kanawha River. Our golf course features 180 acres of rolling greens, ponds, and breathtaking views.

  • More Active People (MAP)

  • Morgantown Adventure Sport Series (MASS)

    A brand new collection of outdoor adventure competitions hosted by the West Virginia University College of Physical Activity & Sports Science that will test your physical abilities and mental toughness.

  • Mountwood Bird Club

    Devoted exclusively to birding about 40 times a year with local and overnight trips. Meetings are held on Thursday mornings at about 8 am at different locations as indicated on the annual schedule. Weekly email announcements to remind people of locations and special requirements.

  • Mountwood Park

    With hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, picknicking, camping, festivals, and community activities, there’s something for everyone at Mountwood Park in Wood County, West Virginia. All are welcome to enjoy this 2,600 acre wooded park with a fifty-acre lake and over fifty miles of biking, hiking and horseback riding trails.

    This trail will connect the North Bend Rail Trail to Mountwood Park.

  • Mt. Zion Church Trail

    This is a county road that is so rugged, it is doubtful motorized vehicles have traveled it for quite some time. It is a great trip by foot, bike, or horse and eventually connects to the Rail Trail in Walker.

  • Mt. Zion Community Park

    This is a nice community greenspace that has a playground, basketball court, horseshoes, ox roast pit, softball field and a large picnic shelter with a small community building that has a kitchen and restrooms.

  • Murphy Preserve

    The Murphy family donated this 276 acre tract to The Nature Conservancy in 1967 so that there would always be a place where natural processes could continue without human intrusion. The preserve consists of two tracts of older oak-hickory forest on rolling topography of hills and coves. The two ponds on the property have a large number of amphibians and have been the subject of several research projects.

    Community recreation space with a level asphalt walking track of approximately 1/4 mile, basketball and tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, playground.

  • National Interscholastic Cycling Association

    Founded in 2009, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) develops high school mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.

  • Neale Elementary School Walking Path

    The school offers a paved path for the community's use. 1 lap = 1/6th of a mile (6 laps=1 mile). This path does not have lighting.

    A rugged, white water river, flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. The park encompasses over 70,000 acres of land along the New River, is rich in cultural and natural history, and offers an abundance of scenic and recreational opportunities.
