    The Frontier Hiking Club is an informal group of local residents that enjoy exploring the natural beauty that our region has to offer.

  • Frozen Camp Wildlife Management Area (WMA)

    WMA Program enables wildlife biologists to conserve and manage habitat to benefit all wildlife species. Size: 2,587 acres Terrain: hilly with wooded slopes, some open bottomland and a few open ridge tops. Hunting Prospects: deer, grouse, rabbit, squirrel, turkey, waterfowl. Trails: from CR 8/5 a parking area offers foot travel access across an old road traversing open bottomland to the Jackson county border and the lake beyond.

  • Gambrill State Park

    Gambrill State Park is a beautiful mountain park, located on the ridge of the Catoctin Mountains in Frederick County. Its most popular feature is the 16 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

  • Gifford State Forest

    Gifford State Forest is the smallest of Ohio's state forests.

  • Gihon Elementary School Walking Path

    The school offers a flat, paved path for the community's use. 1 lap = 1/8th of a mile (8 laps=1 mile). This path does not have lighting.

  • Gobbler's Knob Trail

    A dirt, wooded path located in The Park in Pleasants County. Approximately 1 1/4 mile with some steep terrain. Super fun!

  • Goff Hill Civil War Park

    The site of an interesting Civil War battle that included a log cannon. Great story! You must hike or bike into the park itself. The trails are dirt roads or simply mowed grass. Some of the attractions require steep climbs. ( Approximately .24 mile hike to the top of the hill.) They are well worth it.

  • Grace Community Park

    Grace Community Park has a picnic shelter, ballfield, and large open area.

  • Grand Central Mall Playground

    A great place for children to play indoors. Vibrant colors, really cool design.

  • Grandview Park

    Grandview became part of New River Gorge National River in 1990, after more than 50 years as one of West Virginia's most popular day use state parks. The park is well known for its spectacular views of the New River and beautiful rhododendron. Park features include overlooks of the New River, a visitor center (open seasonally), five hiking trails, ranger-led walks and talks, summer outdoor dramas, and picnic areas with playgrounds.

  • Grantsville City Park

    Riverside park with basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, playground and picnic shelters.

  • Green Bottom Wildlife Management Area

    Stretching along the banks of the Ohio River, this management area is a network of agricultural lands, forestlands, wetlands, and open water. Bottomland hardwoods dominate the areas along the river's bank, whereas oak and hickory dominate the upland portions of the area.

  • Green Valley Riding Club

    Group of folks who enjoy horses and get together for rides,shows and fun.

  • Greenbrier State Forest

    Greenbrier State Forest provides over 5,100 acres of heavily forested, mountainous terrain for outdoor recreation. Magnificent views of the surrounding countryside are afforded by the impressive and imposing 3,280 high Kate's Mountain.

  • Greg Garrett's biking group

    This is an informal bicycling group organized by Greg. He keeps things simple and sends out emails of rides to a mailing list of interested folks. They do all kinds of rides.

    Community recreation area with a winding paved walking trail approximately 1/2 mile long with some mild elevations, picnic shelters, electricity and water, restrooms, seasonal concession, playground, tennis courts, badminton/volleyball court, and baseball field.

  • Heartwood in the Hills

    Heartwood is above all a school of the arts. We are situated in such a pristine rural setting that we are able to incorporate nature into our overall curriculum. The regular class program consists of two twelve-week sessions, in the spring and the fall. Classes are offered each session, in dance, movement for health, exercise for seniors, anatomy study, theatre, music, conservation education, and the visual arts. Typically 40 students enroll in about 80 class slots each program.
