Ben's Run is a dynamic hiking trail in that one can literally leave the hike from Downtown Spencer. This outdoor area adjoins the City Pool and Washington Park and presents an outdoor option for the whole family. There is a historic dam on this half-mile+ dirt surface trail.

While the area of the historic dam is visually interesting, real caution should be used in its vicinity due to the heigth of the dam itself (approx. 40'), a fall from which would probably necessitate a rescue. As an added incentive for just looking at the structure versus actually walking out on it, the dam is covered with poison ivy.

Future development: Ben's Run is slated to connect to the Artist Colony on top of the ridge. The city is working on this project.
