CALL TO MEETING

WHEN: Wednesday January 21, 2009 !!!6:00pm!!! (We are starting early so we can prepare the mailing for this year's River Rendezvous Ride. Meeting will follow the work party.)

MRCC Minutes for Dec. 17, 2008

ATTENDANCE: John & Kittie Clark, Roger Patterson, Al Schneider, Linda Lewis, Paul & Judy Lewis, Roger Hall, Rick & Marie Ralston, Ryan Smith, Drew Smithberger, Cody Shankland. Chris Pucells, Dan & Jane Jones, Nancy Coleman.

Treasurer’s Report: Checkiing: $ 788.56, Club Acct: $ 44,786.38, Jim Stephens MAWBF: $13,182.56 John Clark reported paying $365.00 for 3 years web site fee.

Cycling Update: Winter Light Tour: 12/26/2008 7PM. To start at YMCA. Light and helmet required. Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments will be served at the YMCA following the ride. Ryan Smith reported on trail building, a new loop was completed at KrisMar.The plan was to build a bridge on this loop with money given by MRCC, they were able to fashion a bridge out of a fallen log and didn’t need to build a bridge. They have completed a new trail at Kroger Wetlands and do need a bridge and ask permission to use lumber from previous proposed bridge for the wetlands trail. Permission granted. Ryan also requested additional money for supplies to complete the project. It was approved to use up to $150.00 for the bridge completion.

Drew Smithberger expressed thanks for MRCC members help with Wayne Ultra.

Bike Path: phase 2 set to begin spring 2009.

Bike Repair: will move the bikes from behind the Salvation Army to Ryan Smith’s om Jan. 10, 2009 at 9AM.

Boat storage: none available until spring.

River Rendezvous: Linda sent notices to internet sites. Roger Hall will post the flyer on our web site. “Stuffing” will be at 6PM on January 21, 2009 prior to the next MRCC meeting.

Harmar Rowing Club: still need women’s coach and an assistant. Boat Maintenance: boats stored for winter. Roger Kalter has asked about fiberglass for the Hell Bender. John said it is possible once the paint is removed.

Dock Maintenance: Peter Prigge and John Clark secured the MRCC dock by applying 3 cables.

Lock Master’s House: Dan Jones has written a letter expressing MRCC interest in a lease, the letter also outlined what our club would take responsibility for and what we expect the city to handle. Chris Pucella, crew coach, Marietta College reported that Marietta College is planning a new Boat House. He feels MRCC would still be able to use facilities as we have been. The Marietta College Invite is April 4, 2009. He has 10 teams committed and will need help. He also reported several teams including Purdue and Marquette plan Spring training in Marietta. Dan Jones reported that Joe Tewksbury’s wife is critically ill awaiting a heart transplant.

Nominating Committee: President: Dan Jones, Vice President: Peter Prigge, Secretary: Marie Ralston, Treasurer: John Clark, River Rendezvous Chair: Linda Lewis.

There were no further nominations and the proposed officers were elected.

Next meeting: January 21, 2009, at the Dan Jones residence, 610 Fifth St. There will be “stuffing” at 6PM followed by meeting at 7PM.
