Little Beaver Well Worth The Drive!
I know, I know, it's a long drive, gas is expensive, its too rocky - they all sound like excuses to me. If you want to hit one of WV premier singletrack courses mostly hand-cut by Gary Moorefield and co, you have to travel a bit. This place is reminiscent of some good Canaan riding, with plenty of twisty, turny, rocky, rooty obstacles to test your skills. I look forward to the Beaver every year, as soon as you hit the woods you're having fun.
I remember going down there the first time and thinking where is there good riding around here? You are passing a golf course, it looks like a pretty mild, small State Park, then you hit the woods and its on.
You can tell when someone has a good eye for flow when they are building trail. I'm not saying it doesn't go uphill, but it feels like you can keep your momentum through most things and it just feels like its got a good rhythm. That's the whole course at Little Beaver, twisting, turning, rolling fast through obstacles. Fun, especially for those not suspension-impaired that don't have to jam on the brakes going into rock gardens.
You don't get this kind of biking anywhere else, which is why we're working so hard to keep WVMBA around. These courses are fun to ride regardless of your speed or skill level. WVMBA courses truly are Wild and Wonderful!
