Blennerhassett Bicycle Club Minutes for July 5, 2012

The meeting was brought to order and the treasurer’s report was for $1,889.00. Hallie Taylor reported that Rivers Trails and Ales will be held August 9-12 with a kick off Thursday at the Brewery in Marietta. This year there will be a shorter ride added, as well as two rides scheduled for Mountwood Park. There is a need for ride leaders and help on the festival grounds to staff information booths, etc. Hallie will send additional information to Tom Sears and he will email it to the club members. A Time Trial will be held on July 10, at 6:00. Meet at the storage buildings at 6:00. You must be a club member to participate. Copies of the proposed by-laws were handed out and votes were taken on each item to be changed. The results are as follows, by numbered paragraphs:

It will be a club policy that all riders wear helmets during BBC rides. It should be mentioned that if nonmembers choose to ride without a helmet, they are riding at their own risk.

A discussion was held about the need for leaders on some, but not all club rides. There appears to be confusion among the members as to the definition of the “No Rider Left Behind Ride”. An additional discussion will be held at our next meeting.
