Market Street Merchant participation

Park Day September 8, 2012

Market Street Merchant participation

Contact merchants and organizations between 8th and 4th street and encourage them to participate in Park Day by creating a pocket park in a metered space or on the sidewalk in front of their business.   The Pocket Park rules for the 3rd Street event would not, necessarily, apply to these vendors.

Park day hours are 10-2 but we would request that participating merchants and organizations maintain their spot on the street from 11-1.

Businesses to contact include but are not limited to:  Michelle Coleman Photography, Antique Mall, Art Center, Actor’s Guild, YMCA, WVU-P, Mangos, Cham’s, Cafe Blue, Daily Grind, Knitting and Sewing shops, Cupcake Bakery.

We will create a scavenger hunt to encourage people to move up the street and visit these sites.   With their scavenger hunt paper they will get a small paper bag for carrying the items.  If participants bring their completed scavenger hunt sheet to a check in station in the primary “party zone” they would receive some small gift.Make signs with big feet to lead people up and down the street.  Maybe paint them on the sidewalk with washable paint or use Art Center stanchions to hold up bright red plastic coated feet.
