Club meeting results

For those of you who were (or were not) at the BBC meeting this evening (August 5, 2010) at the North End Tavern, here are some updates:

  1. JERSEYS: Ben Kuhlman is awaiting the arrival of the shirt design since we have sent in our money. We can tweak the design and then give them the OK to print. The group attending tonight, decided on the ¾ length zippers, rather than the shorter ones or the full-length zippers. All jerseys must be the same. So we hope to get the finished jerseys by mid-September. If you have not ordered one yet, let me know so we can get your money and see if we can still include you in the order.

  2. CENTURY RIDE: Ben did some research, trying to come up with a route that everyone would enjoy. The proposed 106-mile route for the Aug. 28 ride GENERALLY is:

City Park

Old St. Marys Pike

Rt 31 toward Rt 50

Rt 50 toward Cairo

Rt 31 (again) into and thru Cairo, continues to Harrisville

Harrisville over to Pullman

Pullman out to Rt 50 at Pennsboro (lunch stop)

Rt 50 East to the Sunnyside turn off; take that turn off

Get on OLD Rt 50 (2 lane) and head west, back toward Pennsboro

Get back on 4 lane Rt 50 and head toward Parkersburg

Hit Rt 31 at Walker; turn right and head toward Williamstown

When Rt 31 intersects with Old St. Marys Pike, take it back into town and back to City Park

There is a 30-mile loop from City Park, Old St. Marys Pike, Rt 31, and Rt 50 back to the Park. There’s also about a 60-mile loop that takes the century route to Cairo and then back the same way. Members are welcome to ride and guests may ride, too. But guests will have to sign a release of liability. Ben will have more precise “cue” sheets the morning of the ride. THANKS BEN!

  1. TRAIL RIDE: Based upon the success of the recent ride, it was proposed that there be ANOTHER trail ride this year. So the group decided to do one on Sat., Oct 9 (rain date Oct 16) from WVU-P to Ellenboro and back, since this is logistically easier and the trail is in the best condition on this half of the route. Members are welcome to ride and guests may ride, too. But guests will have to sign a release of liability.

Hope to see you on some of these rides or other BBC rides in the coming weeks. Feel free to pass all of this along to anyone who might be interested!
