The Rail Trail from Wolfe Summit to Parkersburg, 70+ miles and they rode the whole thing!
On July 31, I had the pleasure of riding with a group of folks (I heard there were 19 of us total) on a portion of the Blennerhassett Bicycle Club's annual Rail Trail ride from Wolfe Summit to Parkersburg, totaling over 70 miles. I started my journey in Walker at mile marker 12 and rode until I met up with them, which was in Ellenboro.
It was great weather and a great group of folks.

Hardcore Candace had refreshments pre-arranged for us in Cairo and we all got to stop for ice cold Gatorade. It was very nice indeed. Thank you Candace!

There were bikes of every shape, size and era and I was happy to see a vintage (I mean that with the deepest respect John - laughing) Gary Fisher full-suspension mountain bike on the trip as I was riding the newest Gary Fisher full-suspension myself. I took a moment at the Gatorade stop to capture a photo of the generations of mountain biking displayed with these two bikes side by side.

I had a great time and am grateful for this club and the many people who have kept it going all these years. I look forward to the next ride I can enjoy. You should check one of their very many events out and I encourage you to join the club. For $15 it is hard to beat and supporting a group such as this is a great way to say thanks!
I left the group at mile marker 12 and headed home. Once on top of the ridge I had to stop as I noticed a beautiful rainbow on the horizon. It seemed a fitting way to end such a beautiful ride. Blessings!
