Virtual Ride with group on Marietta City Trails
On the last Monday of each month RVMBA holds a group ride in Marietta utilizing many of the singletrack trails troughout the city. On beautiful days the turnout for the ride is usually great and the rides awesome. The 28th of June was no exception with a large group of riders coming out to enjoy the trails and comradery that is the norm. Our ride started at the usual city parking lot at Second and Butler Streets. However, instead of just heading out Butler St. to the trailhead, Ryan led us through a few blocks of downtown. That looked pretty impressive. I didn't do a complete count, however I seem to remember someone saying we had 16 riders.
After our short downtown cruise we headed back to Butler, just off 7th St. to hit the Old Walnut Trail and head into the Middle School trail system. Another short jaunt on a couple streets finds us behind Subway entering the North Hills Trail and heading over to Kris-Mar Woods.
After a few different loops through Kris-Mar it was out onto Glendale Road, onto Cisler Drive and then jumping into the "NEW" Cisler Trail at Jackson Park. What a great trail we have built there. All those who helped with it should be proud of that one. We rode it down to the High School Trails. After a modified loop utilizing the always fun Ewing Trail we headed back up Cisler Trail ( check out the speed you can get in both directions ) onto Cisler Drive and Glendale again and jumping onto the North Hills Trail all the way through to Subway again.
A few of us hammered back up Ray Lang Trail and split off on Old Walnut to end on a fast note around past the Middle School on Old Walnut and back to Butler St. A short session of street riding, curb jumping and impressive block length wheelie action brought the ride to an end but not the comradery. Several of the group headed over to the Galley for some grub and refreshments to end a fun evening of riding.
Be sure to mark your calendar for the next Pub Ride, last Monday of the month. (Rain can cancel the ride).
