River Rendezvous Ride: Linda Lewis has sign-up sheets, most assignments are complete, call Linda if you need to know what your assignments are: 315-2468.
GOBA: Al Schneider has a welcome to Marietta sign for GOBA, The club approved $120.00 for purchase. Dan Jones presented sign-up sheet for the GOBA welcome tent, members will help with directions, questions etc on June 21 and 22.
Roger Murphy represented the Philo School's effort to up-date the facilities at Duncan Falls athletic field MRCC club gave final approval for $1000.00 for the renovations. Roger also noted that a Babe Ruth ball team will be on hand Sat. morning of RRR to sell coffee and donuts.
Mimi Hughes, who is swimming the length of the Ohio River, will be chaperoned by MRCC members May 27-31. She will be staying in Marietta those 4 nights and John and Kittie Clark will drive her to her starting point each morning, MRCC members will accompany her by boat as she swims.. The club voted to pay for gas expense due to the distance the Clark's will be traveling each of those days.
Brandy Norris has developed a MRCC info sheet with membership application to be placed at Tourist and Convention Bureau and the Lockmaster's house.
LOCKMASTER'S HOUSE: Peter Prigge reported that hand rails have been donated and will be painted prior to installation. The trusses that need replaced are being marked so the city can proceed with replacement. It was agreed to buy 20 stackable plastic chairs for the house so we can begin having meetings there next month.
Friends of the Lower Muskingum: Bird watching at Kroger Wetlands on May 29, Clean River Sweep on June 19, and Mighty Muskingum raft Race Aug. 15.
Harmar Boat Club: different crews attended various races and are showing improvement. The Lindamood was a success. Joe Teweksbury will host an adult rowing class this summer.
Rowing Update: College boat house is filling up but still room for some boats. Do not store oars, paddles or lifejackets there. Some members are getting together for impromptu rowing usually on Sunday afternoon.
Roger Kalter is again having an Adventure Camp through the YMCA. This includes an opportunity for kids to get out on the river in the boats. Roger needs some adult volunteers to help. The dates for the camp July 13, thru August 14.
Bicycling update: July 31 will be the ride to Wolf Run State Park from Marietta, stay over on Sat and ride back on Sunday.
Bike Repair: the 60 bikes were moved from MSI to the old Elston building, The club approved up to $200.00 for a bike repair stand.
Bike Path : City has applied to state of Ohio for money to extend the Bike Path from 3rd St to Don Drumm field.
ODOT had a meeting about extending the Athens bike path from Athens to Little Hocking. The larger plan would be to eventually bring the path to Belpre.
Next meeting will be June 16,2010 at 7PM at the Lockmaster's House.
There was discussion about a shirt with the MRCC logo, this will be continued at the next meeting.
The questions of whether we could obtain the mailing list GOBA uses for our RRR mailing. Mary Grubert will check with her contacts.
