Sat., May 28, 2010 Club Ride

Either as a fluke or in direct response to our survey results last year, which showed that most respondents do most of their riding on weekends, a Saturday morning Club Ride was on the May calendar and some of us actually took advantage of it! Kenyon Cox, Keith Walters, Doug Kreinik and I showed up at Howes Grove Park in Belpre to head out at 9am. It was a gorgeous morning, still a tad foggy at that point, leading some of us (me) to neglect putting on sunscreen. Mistake. We headed out to the four-lane and went to Little Hocking. From there we went the seven miles or so up Rt 555 through Fillmore to Decaturville. From there, we headed east on Co. Rd 3. After crossing Rt 339, we continued east on CR3 past Veto Lake and the Oxbow turnoff, climbed Constitution Hill and came out on Rt 7. Since Keith had driven to Howes Grove from Parkersburg and since Kenyon lives in Belpre, they went ahead back to Howes Grove Park. Doug and I went into downtown Belpre and across the Free Bridge to Parkersburg for lunch with his wife, Myla, at the Blennerhassett Hotel. So the group got in between 35-40 miles and finished up by about Noon. Still plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day. –Roger Sheppard
