The Friends of Mountwood Park
The Friends of Mountwood Park is a volunteer group that provides support for the park. Volunteers are welcome to participate in a variety of activities such as greeting customers at the Visitor’s Center, working at Mountwood Park events, developing educational programs, taking pictures, and manning information booths. If you are interested in becoming a “Friend,” please contact Peggy Squires, 304-679-3914.
The Mountwood Bird Club
Take a walk in the woods or around a lake with a Mountwood Bird Club member to learn all the chirps, calls, and songs of birds in our area. This club meets regularly throughout the year to go on bird outings. For a full schedule visit:
River City Runners
The River City Runners, host of the Ten Mile Challenge at Mountwood in September, is an active walking, jogging, and running club in the Mid Ohio Valley. River Valley Mountain Bike Association (RVMBA)
Mountain bikers of all ages and levels are welcome to join the River Valley Mountain Bike Association (RVMBA), host of the annual Challenge at Mountwood Race in May. This active group in the Mid Ohio Valley builds and maintains trails in Marietta, the Wayne National Forest, and Mountwood Park. The Wood County Flywheelers Club
Learn about old engines of all kinds with the Wood County Flywheelers Club. This organization provides support to Mountwood Park and the Mid Ohio Valley in the preservation and education of the history of the oil and gas industry of West Virginia. The Wood County Horse Riding Club
The home of the Wood County Horse Riding Club is located above Mountwood Park on 2,000 acres of wooded land. This group has been actively involved in building the horse camp and participating in activities at Mountwood Park and the community.
