Recreation at Mountwood Park
With ninety one campsites, a 50 acre lake, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, Mountwood Park has something for everyone.
Fishing
Bass, trout, muskie, and catfish are just a few of the popular catches at the Mountwood Park Lake. Fish from the banks, rent a boat, or utilize the handicap accessible docks to enjoy a day at the lake. A fishing permit from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources is required. The marina boat rentals are open from Memorial Day Weekend to October. Please call the park for more details.
Boat Rentals: Kayaks, flat boats, canoes, and refreshments are available at the marina. The rates for boat rentals are $8.00 per hour or $30.00 per day. Cash, Visa, Master Card, and Discover are accepted.
Please Note: Trolling motors only. Swimming is not permitted.
Picnicking
No matter what the occasion Mountwood Park has a place for you to celebrate. Picnic shelters, a stage for entertainment, and a conference room are available for rent. Clean restrooms, paved parking lots, charcoal grills, and playgrounds surround the picnicking areas for your convenience and pleasure.

Carson Station - $100/day
Large picnic shelter located in the center of the park. Seats approximately 150 people.
Large Shelters - $75/day
Rustic settings located in rustic settings. Seats approximately 100-115 people.

Stage - $25/day
Can be moved to most locations in park upon request. Measurements = 20' side; 14' deep
Games
Mountwood Park has a 9-hole disc golf course, shooting range, and miniature golf course. The shooting range is located at the front of the park near the lake. Hours of operation are from dawn until dusk Monday through Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays.
The nine hole disc golf course runs through the core part of the park and the miniature golf course is located on Games Hill above the core part of the park. Miniature golf rentals are available at the Marina Concession Stands.
Trails
Spend a day in the park exploring over 50 miles of trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. Challenge yourself on a rugged trail or learn about the history of Mountwood Park on a historic walk through archeological sites. Trail maps are available upon request at the Stiles Administration Building or visitor’s center.
Mountwood Park Horse Camp
The Mountwood Park Horseman's Camp offers approx. 28 miles of trails and the camp is only 6 miles from the North Bend State Park rail-to-trails system.
Months of Operation: Open from May 1 thru Nov. 1 for horseback riding and then open during hunting season for hunters only, if a hunting pass at Mountwood Park is purchased.
Bridle Fees pertain to non-members: $3.00 daily or $20.00 seasonal
Camping Fees (subject to change) are $8.00 per night for members of W.C.H.R.C., $15.00 per night for non-club members, $50.00 per week or $150.00 per month.
Stall Fees pertain to non-members: $10.00 per night (based on availability).
Trail Maps free (Laminated trail maps sold for $10.00).
Rules: Must sign release of liability waiver before you ride. No horse riding on bicycle trails; only ride designated trails and county roads. No horse riding in Mountwood Park (all riding is on property leased by the park). Pack out what you pack in. Manure must be spread by all users away from the grazing areas & not in mounds, MUST BE SCATTERED. Camp fires in burn rings only. Extinguish camp fires before leaving. Take all trash to dumpster on your way out. Dogs may be requested to be put on a leash.
