BBC welcomes a new member!
The BBC welcomed a “new” rider to a club ride on Saturday morning, May 15. Les Pritchard, a long time bicyclist who is now getting “back into it,” joined Roger Sheppard and Steve Simonton for about a 30-miler. The trio met at the tennis courts in City Park (the current but soon-to-be-FORMER meeting place for club rides), and headed out from there. They did Old St. Marys Pike, Rt. 31 and Rt. 50 before returning to the Park. Les’s longest, recent ride was about 15 miles he said, so this one doubled that! He was riding his late 1970s vintage Washburn with a bunch of Campy components. Gorgeous bike! We talked about doing a “vintage ride” sometime, where everyone would bring out their oldest bike for a ride! Could be fun! It was the first time for Steve and Roger to ride together since TOSRV.
Please note that according to the Ride Calendar, club rides starting from City Park will start at the PAVILION starting in June. Those of us who sometimes need to change from work clothes into bike clothes and who prefer to use the newer, nicer bathrooms by the Tennis Courts as opposed to the nastier ones close to the Pavilion, will just have to make do, I guess.
