Getting the most out of class

Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your class.

Bring a towel and botle of water.

Arrive a few minutes early. Leave your cell phones, shoes and all your tension from the day in the reception area. Give yourself time to relax and do a few stretches, a moment to meditate and quiet your mind.

Don't take class on a full stomach. Yoga is best practiced 2 - 3 hours after a meal. However, some people need to eat just a little "something" an hour or so before class.

Bring your own yoga mat. For energetic reasons, you should purchase and bring your own mat. Mats are available for rent at the studio.

Cultivate patience and quiet. We want to create a space of healing, quiet and relaxation as well as friendship, so please keep conversations low when you enter the yoga rooms and be patient with yourself and others. Do not judge yourself or others and enjoy yourself, no matter what!!

Focus and BE PRESENT. Yoga trains the mind as well as the body. Practice with total attention and awareness within the body. Honor the suggestion of pain and remember THERE IS NO PAIN IN YOGA. Listen to your feelings and emotions and have self respect. Stay positive.

Take your time and go at your own pace.
