Vinyasa Flow Yoga - defined
Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance.
This is a medium intensity class designed to take you away from it all for 90 minutes in a fun, friendly, unpretentious environment. It’s geared toward participants familiar with the basics of yoga but looking to deepen their practice by experiencing a variety of yoga postures and techniques including inversions. The primary objectives are to:
- Increase openness, space and oxygen between major joints, like the spinal area
- Gradually release tight areas like shoulders and hips
- Improve strength, balance, endurance, alignment
- Be at ease with your body – find your own “Center”
All classes are acceptable for beginners because we are always encouraging you to take your time and go at your own pace. There are modifications that our certified instructors can help you with.
