Hidden Mountain Bike Treasure

When North Bend State Park and mountain biking are mentioned most folks think "Oh yes, the North Bend Rail Trail". While the Rail trail is a wonderful ride spanning around 75 miles from just outside Parkersburg to Wolf Summit near Clarkburg, few mountain bikers realize there is a hidden treasure of singletrack within the park. That's right, singletrack, and some awesome scenery along the way.

I spent several hours there this weekend and the trails were in great shape. A little rough here and there with those few technical sections thrown in for good measure. There is something for everyone. The trees I had mentioned in an earlier update were removed by the Park and though I found a new one it is easy to ride beside and does not require crossing. There is a good map on the North Bend State Park website with the trails listed.

I have found a great loop that can put you one almost every trail in the park and ends on a downhill note. If would like a description of the loop, which is lengthy, just drop me an email and I'll get it to you. rvmba.duane@yahoo.com
